PURPOSE AND ROLE IN THE BUSINESS:
Venetia Mine is planning to implement advanced mining automation systems to improve the safety and
productivity of the underground operation.
We are looking for technically skilled candidates with good problem-solving ability for the position of Senior
Engineering Operative in the Automation and Systems Department.
The responsibilities of the Senior Engineering Operative include all aspects of Venetia Underground Mine
Telecommunication and Infrastructure systems and technologies. This includes all fault finding and
diagnostics required during the shift.
The typical duties of the Senior Engineering Operative include the following: installation and configuration of all the hardware Underground Mine Telecommunication and Infrastructure.
The Senior Engineering Operative is expected to display good interpersonal skills as he/she will interact
with colleagues across all departments and at all levels.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
The successful candidate will be required to:
• Carrying out of routine external inspections on infrastructure within the section and reports any defects
according to procedure.
• Assist Field Service Technicians and other operatives in carrying out major jobs.
• Clean workshops and equipment required
• Operate and use tools within skills range
• Reports defects
• Complete planned tasks as per job cards issued.
• Adherence to policies, procedures, SHE and Zero Harm
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (Education & Experience)
• Grade 12/Std 10 with Mathematics or N3 certificate (strictly with Math’s and English).
• The required N2 subjects are:
– Mathematics
– Engineering Science
– Industrial Electronics
– Instrument Trade Theory
• Code EB/Code 08 Drivers License would be an advantage.
• Successfully obtain a Red Ticket (Medical Fitness certificate) on mine
• Being physical fit and able to work in an underground mine
• Your consideration for employment is subject to your SAPS Criminal Record verification and qualifications
verification.
• Psychometric and Technical assessments.
SKILLS/ COMPETENCIES:
• Good communication skills
IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
Candidates meeting the above minimum requirements would be required to undergo extensive Psychometric
and Technical knowledge assessments after which if found suitable would be invited for interviews.
If successful, it is expected that you would be able to travel to our Training Centre in Randfontein to receive
training.
